Are You Pretending Not to be an Epidemiologist? 14 March 202022 March 2026 I’m not a statistician, nor do I have any idea what what the Law of Averages is, but it seems like it is statistically probable that a significant proportion of the people on social media who are being being told “You’re not an epidemiologist, are you?” this week, are in fact epidemiologists, and are just keeping quiet about it. And one has to wonder why they would `do that at a time when they are so badly needed. It might be because they’re assholes, and if that’s the case I think we might need to start shunning epidemiologists, but before we can do that effectively we’re going to need a way to identify them. Until then, we need to just shun everybody. Stay indoors and avoid contact with all humans in case they turn out to be epidemiologists. It’s the only way we’re going to beat this thing. At least that’s what I think I’d say if I was a statistician.
